Sometimes referred to as Climping and appearing at other times spelt with a 'y' as in Clymping. Climping is two miles west of Littlehampton, the beach being one of the few remaining stretches of un-spoilt beach. There is a car-park available with a 'pay to stay all day' charge. There are very few facilities, which makes it an ideal beach if you prefer not to have the usual noise and associated smells of some of the developed 'sea-side' beaches. The beach offers several miles of sand dunes and whilst the beach is mainly of shingles, when the tide goes out there are miles of sand to walk along, making it a very pleasant beach for all ages. The small hamlet of Climping contains the Church of St Mary and is a splendid example of medieval architecture. One vicar of old, John de Climping, later became bishop of Chichester.
