The Trust was formed to archive and display the history of Emsworth and its surroundings, to make the public aware of Emsworth's historical position. The Museum, opened in1988, is entirely run by volunteers, and has a section of the area's history displayed in articles, books, pictures and clothing. There are special displays devoted to the old sea-faring families, and to the author P.G.Wodehouse who lived in Emsworth and incorporated several local names into his books. The Museum has an archive of Video and Audio tapes. These recordings can be assessed during the Museum opening times on request to the stewards. In addition, there is a special exhibition every month on people or events of local interest. The Museum is open every weekend and Bank Holiday between Easter and the end of October, as well as Fridays in August.
